GLOUCESTER – Public Health Director Max Schenk and Cape Ann Mass in Motion Grant Coordinator Jennifer Donnelly are pleased to announce the distribution of Ticket to Ride transportation booklets, designed to assist those with transportation needs.
This winter, the Cape Ann Seniors on the GO initiative and Cape Ann Transportation Authority (CATA) collaborated to create Ticket to Ride transportation booklets for those in need. After much success, Gloucester Public Health and Cape Ann Mass in Motion have produced more of these booklets to help individuals and families needing transportation services.
Two types of Ticket to Ride booklets will be distributed, one for Cape Ann Transportation Authority’s fixed route bus service and the other for its Dial-A-Ride service. Each booklet includes 10 free tickets that expire at the end of 2022. These tickets allow a passenger to ride at no cost.
The booklets are available to adults of all ages and youth in Gloucester, Rockport, and Essex. Supplies are limited.
“CATA is very happy to partner with Cape Ann Seniors on the Go for the Ticket to Ride program. Access to reliable transportation is so important, it is a vital link for social, medical, employment, education, and other activities within our communities,” said Administrator Felicia Webb. “With the rising cost of fuel and other necessities, the Ticket to Ride program can provide some financial relief to those that already use CATA services and could be an incentive for other people to try out some of the CATA services.”
Anyone interested in the booklets should contact Jennifer Donnelly, Grant Coordinator at Cape Ann Mass in Motion, either by email at jdonnelly@gloucester-ma.gov, or by phone at (978) 325-5274.
Cape Ann Mass in Motion is a coalition representing the communities of Gloucester, Rockport, Essex, and Manchester-by-the-Sea, and is overseen by the Gloucester Health Department. The organization is part of the Massachusetts Department of Public Health’s Municipal Wellness and Leadership Coalition, which seeks to prevent obesity and lower rates of chronic disease by increasing opportunities for healthy food access and active living.
Those involved in the coalition work to advance policy, systems, and environmental change as it relates to healthy food access and active living for all members of our community. For more information or to get involved in the coalition, click here.
