Food minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder on Friday urged people to be economical in dealing with the rising prices of commodities and the current market situation.
‘If the price of imported goods goes up all over the world, the prices will also increase in our country. We have nothing to do here. We have to be economical, we have to be frugal and we have to be self-sufficient. Only then a happy, prosperous and developing Bangladesh will be built’, he said while addressing the prize giving ceremony of the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman National Gold Cup Football Tournament on Sapahar Pilot High School ground in Naogaon Friday afternoon.
Referring to Bangladesh Nationaist Party leaders and workers, the food minister said that those who shot people for fertilizer and electricity when they had been in power were saying that they would go for a movement.
‘What assurance will they give to the people now?’ he said.
Bangladesh is safe in the hands of only prime minister Sheikh Hasina, he continued, as development of Bangladesh is possible only through her.
He said that the country was not safe under any other person or leader of any party.
Sapahar upazila nirbahi officer Abdullah Al Mamun presided over the ceremony while upazila parishad chairman Shahjahan Hossain Mandal was a special guest.
Among others, upazila agriculture officer Shapla Khatun, health officer Muha Ruhul Amin, Sapahar police officer-in-charge Tarekur Rahman Sarkar, upazila Awami League president Shamsul Alam Shah Chowdhury, general secretary Masud Reza Sarwar and freedom fighter Omar Ali Mollah were present at the prize giving ceremony.
