Mental illness will affect almost half of adults at some stage in our lives, and the drivers are complex — on the Health Report in the past we’ve discussed its relationship with the immune system, tobacco and exercise, to name just a few.
Let’s add another into the mix: nutrition. We know it’s good for our body, but evidence shows it’s good for our mind too, and the peak body for dietetics in Australia wants nutrition help to be covered by Medicare in mental health plans.
