The County of Santa Cruz is seeking applicants interested in appointment to the inaugural board of directors for the Pajaro Valley Health Care District.
Under SB 418, the district will govern activities associated with the delivery of medical care in the Pajaro Valley, including the potential acquisition and oversight of Watsonville Community Hospital, according to a release from the county. Ideal candidates will reflect the diversity of the Pajaro Valley and have experience in health care, business and/or community endeavors.
The five positions are voluntary and subject to approval by the board of supervisors. While initial terms will be by appointment, future terms will be subject to district-based public elections.
Applications are due by March 4. Applicants must be permanent residents within the boundaries of the health care district, be a registered voter in Monterey or Santa Cruz counties and be able to complete applicable statements of economic interests filings.

The Board of Supervisors will appoint directors on March 22. An initial introduction meeting will be held March 24 and a planning meeting will follow March 26.
